Byju Raveendran's Career Details-

When he completed the  B.Tech in Engineering, Byju joined a multi-national shipping company. And while staying with his friends in Bangalore during a vacation, his friends were preparing for the CAT examination. Byju was good in their studies so his friends asked for help from him.
BYJU helped them and also participated in the CAT examination and scored 100%. He was amazed by the score so he again participated in the CAT examination and again he scored 100%.

Not only he but his friends who took the help of Byju also scored well in the examination. So his friends advised him to start teaching and helping those students who are preparing for the competitive exams. 

He thought it is not a bad idea so he accepted this proposal, that day he started his journey of entrepreneurship. In the starting, he used to teach to the CAT participants and used to share his way of scoring 100% in the examination. 

Once he found that teaching is the right choice for him, he quit his job came into a full-time teaching career. In the starting he used to teach free for a week, if students liked his way of teaching then he used to charge them.

He started his teaching career from the terrace of his friend's house later as the number of students grew he shifted from the terrace to a professional classroom, and eventually to an auditorium. 
There was a time when he was taking classes of more than 20, 000 students across different cities and states of India like Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, etc.  By seeing this Byju started recording his lectures in 2009, and he made them available to students across 45 cities.

 In 2010, some students from IIM met him and proposed to start teaching online so that he can reach millions of students, and then they formed a company Think and Learn. Later they created a website and App in 2011, where anybody can learn and prepare for the examinations. They named the App as BYJU'S  The Learning App.

Due to the first-mover advantage, BYJU got a lot of popularity in a short period, BYJU'S had many free videos on every subject but if someone wanted to view all the videos then they had to subscribe to BYJU'S. 

In 2015, BYJU'S had 5.5 million downloads and there were more than 2.50 lacs annual subscriptions.

In 2016 BYJU'S got funded $50 Million by Mark Zuckerberg and his Priscilla Chan's organization- The Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative, and BYJU'S become the first Asian startup funded by the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative. In 2019, BYJU'S- The Learning App become the official sponsor of Indian Cricket Team Jersey,
